How to treat sun burn

Summer is here and everyone is planning to go to the beach or had been to the beach already when the hot weather hits. We love the sun and most of us love to go tanning. We all know that we should put on sunscreen to protect our delicate skin from being burned. But, we should also know some remedies to treat our tanned or sometimes, even burned skin after being exposed to the sun for too long. Here are some natural home remedies that you could try to treat your sunburn.

  1. Aloe Vera: Aloe is great for treating sunburn and irritated skin because it has soothing properties. It eases irritation and pain associated with sunburn. Aloe gel and aloe plant itself both do an excellent job soothing and moisturizing your skin.
  2. Oatmeal: Oatmeal has soothing properties that helps soothe irritation and redness. It also has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties to help reverse damages caused by sunburn. Simply fill the bath tub with water and pour 1-2 cups of oatmeal in. Soak your body for 10-15 minutes. This will help the burn heal faster and hydrates your skin.
  3. Cucumbers: Cucumber juice is great for cooling off the sunburn while hydrating your skin. It also contains crucial vitamins to speed up the healing process. Place thin slices of cucumber onto the sunburn or redness for about 10-15 minutes.
  4. Coconut oil: Coconut oil can act as a sunburn reliever by applying it onto your burned skin. It will soothe the inflamed skin, reduce redness, and rehydrates the skin.

Always moisturize your skin after the burn, especially the face because it has delicate skin. Always remember to put on sun protection before going out in the hot summer weather.
